College Mission Trip Bahamas: Nayla Curcio

Serve the World - Bahamas 2011 God gave me the opportunity to go on my first mission trip this past May.  A group from the Granada College Group went to the Bahamas for five days.  It was so helpful to have one of our own students, Georgina Prineppi, in the Bahamas helping with logistics for our team.  We worked with Georgina’s home church, Lucaya Presbyterian Church.

Since this was an exploratory trip, we got to touch different ministries of the church.  We painted the facilities and worked with the youth ministry.  We also participated in an outreach ministry of the church called CrossReach.  It is a ministry where the congregation donates canned food, and a group of people prepares grocery bags of food and other basic supplies for people in the poorer neighborhoods.

CrossReach was such a humbling experience for me.  Most of the people we visited were sick and lonely.  It made me think about my life and how blessed I am to be healthy with a family who loves and supports me.

It was awesome to know that even though we had just met these people, we had a connection through God.  There are many ways we can help this community; but most importantly, we pray for it to know God personally.
